3ccd vs 3cmos vs 3mos?
I’m looking to buy a “prosumer”/professional camcorder and its funny how the more research I do… the more lost I get. Not sure what sort of optical sensor is the best… or a more relevant question; which sensor will give me the most bang for my buck if i’m looking to spend between $1,000 and $5,000. Also what I really need is to see sample clips of a bunch of different Camcorders, from all different brands, so I can have a more informed decision. Problem is.. I can’t find clips from any sort of camcorder.. and being from cleveland ohio there isn’t a reseller in the state who carries professional video equipment!!! Anyone know of a good site that can show me video comparisons? Thanks!

cmos and mos are simply trademark terms for RCA solidstate electronic devices. RCA invented the CCD imager and companies that obtained a license from them also got rights to the trademark. it doesn’t really mean anything special about the imager.
your biggest decision will be whether to go tape (HDV) or memory card/HDD based systems. at the prosumer level, HDV continues to have the advantage for most purposes. professional tapeless systems are way above your price point and don’t be fooled into thinking avchd is somehow the equivalent.
